at one time, about 1948 I'm thinking, there were no less than 5 IH dealers. Now this county is average size, 24 by 30 miles or so. At the same time there were 2 JD dealers, 1 Allis-Chalmers, 1 Oliver, 2 Ford, 1 Massey-Harris, 1 J. I. Case, 1 Co-op, and 1 Ferguson "Long Line-Tractors" dealers and a Wards Farm Store selling B. F. Averys and the 6 cyl. Lowther Customs. Now in this modern age there is 1 John Deere, 1 "blue" New Holland, and 1`"red" Case New Holland dealer.
I sure am glad I saw those days, for an old farm kid like me, it just ain't much fun any more, except for the old farm tractor and equipment shows-Thank God for them.
