Before you start thinking about new rings, you need to check the tube that runs from the breather to the engine block. This need to be completely free of crud, as does the orafice that it connects to on the block. If this breather tube is blocked, your engine can build excessive pressure which is released through the oil fill cap. Use compressed air or let it soak in a parts bath. Phlogiston
