Use either 90 wt gear oil or you can use HyTran(Tractor Fluid) from the IH dealer. You can buy it in 5 gallon buckets. It takes 13 gallons. If you have water in there, be sure to drain the belt pulley case too. YOu have to take the bolts loose that hold the shaft in and pull the shaft and the flange out a little to let it drain. When you refill, put a pint or so in the fill hole on the top of the pulley housing for the initial lube of the pulley bearings. The pulley gears and bearing are lubed from the transmission, but there is a small reservoir of lube up there that has no drain and water tends to accumulate there.
