Tom your problem is in you TA clutch. There are severl reasons that you can't get it out of gear when there is torque against the gears. The planatery gear set in your TA will not turn backwards so If your TA clutch is not disengaging or has a little oil on it and is sticky it will not come out of gear. If you don't have a maintenence manuel then you need to get one. It explains the correct procedure for adjusting your TA linkage.
