Removing/replacing the hyd pump is no big deal so long as you don't mess up the timing. You've got it figured out fine! Most difficult part for me was dealing with the small flood of hyd oil when loosening the manifold... Do you get any unusual noise (rap or clunking) from the front of the motor? I knew something was wrong with mine because it had a bad knock every 1/2 revolution - just like a rod knock - at idle. But the knock disappeared anytime a load was put on the hydraulic pump, or when the RPMs were run up past 600 or so. When I got the pump off I found the cam gear had better than 1/2" of lateral play in it. But the tractor ran fine, and had been running this way for a couple hundred hours.
