Hey Red Dave - Your logic makes sense - I think you've correctly diagnosed the root of Gene's problem! Another way to check would be to take a voltage reading with the ignition on and the motor NOT running. Measure between the coil "+" terminal and a good ground. With the jumper in place the meter should read battery voltage (12.6 or so), and with the jumper removed about 7 volts. This would account for the weak spark since the coil wants a 12 volt input, but is only actually getting 7 volts. Can also try running the tractor with the jumper in place - I'll bet that solves the problem. Solution then would be to install a "6 volt" coil in place of the internally resistor-equipped 12 volt coil.

Hydraulics - Cylinder Anatomy - by Curtis von Fange. Let’s make one more addition to our series on hydraulics. I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
