I was looking at a photograph today that had the decal back on the tank too. I just never realised the difference between the placement chart and the photographs. One of those cases, I guess, where the fellow on the assembly line had a different idea! Its amazing sometimes what factories did as opposed to what the engineers specified- the Ford N-Series has a whole lot of these problems (shrink fits 1/16 of an inch wide, parts not heat treated because the foremen knew better, etc.) but IH had their own share of these too.
