My Farmall A is a 1939, and I found the serial # stamped on the engine block. You might find one on yours if you look on the right side (as you are sitting on the seat) just below the cylindar head parting line on the uppermost right corner of the block. You should be able to find a flat spot cast into the block, with a series of numbers stamped onto it. A wire brush and some engine degreaser will probably help. Good luck
