Thanks to all for the feedback on the missing tach. And yes, it has the standard gas sediment bowl on the right. The closest thing I can find (working from memory) is the picture of a Super BMD (british built) on p101 of Farmall Tractors by Pripps and Morland from motorbooks color history series. Haas thanks for that writeup, thats what I was looking for. What is a good source for the adjustment proceedures? I have an I&T manual that covers the SMD, maybe I should go read it, huh ;) GM it's in mid VA and it's a tricycle, no PS. Where are you at in case I'm search for a head in the near future ;) I don't think filters were removed, just comenting that the configuration was different than SMD pictures. Sven, I'm definately the fix-up type, just not sure how many projects I need laying around here, they can start piling up deep. I am thinking of replacing a SM gas with it. The M&W hand clutch is great for baling, but the tractor is hard on it for heavy drawbar work. Thought the 400 with IPTO might be a help. Ralph, your reverse psychology is working ;) You should be ashamed of yourself (VBG). I guess basic questions were for any troubleshooting experience from farmall diesels and whether this is worth looking at as a replacement for my Super M. I'll keep researching for the moment, it didn't seem to be moving to fast. Stan(VA).

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
