The trans and PTO do run together and do what others say for the transmission (drain/level hole on left side and fill hole on or by top stick shift cover). However, I think the manual recommends adding some into the belt pulley section of the PTO to ensure that some gets there right away even though it is connected fluid wise to the rest.
