The purpose of a subsoiler is to break up the hard pan. They usually have about a 18" working depth. The disk plow is a shallow working tool and usually has about a 8" working depth. Niether are designed for land clearing. If your stumps are not too big a chisel plow would probably be a better choice. Big stumps should be uprooted with a bulldozer with a clearing blade. Harold H
