Subsoiler Vs. diskplow

I have a IH 656 tractor and am debating on getting a sub-soiler or a "diskplow". I need to cut some stumps out, and don't know which one will work best. My dad says the diskplow will cut the stumps off below the surface, but it looks kinda "dainty" for a tractor the size of mine. Would a sub-soiler work better? Any help would be appreciated.
