TA on a IH 340

First of all, I just bought a IH 340 with a wide front and loader, and I am new to tractor lingo. What is a TA? And how do I know if my tractor has it. From reading the threads I gather it has to do with High and Low range.
Second, How do I determine what year it is?
I'm sure I will have a million more trivial questions in the future, but it is nice knowing I have a place to get the answers.
