Bergen - Here's what I see may have happened: 1 - A wire broke somewhere in the wiring harness when you split the tractor. 2 - You fried the regulator when you attempted to polarize by connecting F and BAT at the regulator (should have connected BAT and GEN) If you have an ohmmeter, suggest disconnecting the wiring at the generator and regulator, then checking each wire end to end for continuity. If you find one that's open, repair/replace as necessary. Then put on a new regulator and see what you get. Good luck!
