Paul, on the left side of the transmissin, next to the fender you will see a small square plug. Take it out, and when the oil stops draining you are at the correct level. The final drives are filled seperatly from the transmission. The reason you had oil coming out of your brake area is because the oil seals are bad. To install new ones is really not a bad job once you get set up for it. You can also put new brakes on while you have it apart or torch the old ones if they are still good to remove the oil from the bands. Maintaining the proper level in the transmission will minimize leaking into the brakes, but will not eliminate it. New seals are fairly cheap. I suggest getting all the manuals for your Cub. It will answer most of your questions and more. Phlogiston
