Farmall from 5 years in the woods, What to do first???

Hi there,

I just got my first old tractor. It's a 1956 Farmall 100 that has been sitting in the woods (NE Texas) for about 5 years. Tractors are new to me but I'm very familiar with autos of the same age.

I'm planning on changing the oil, flushing the coolant and cleaning out the fuel tank. What else should I clean/change/lubricate before I turn it over and try to start it????

Is 30 weight oil ok? Can today's unleaded regular gas be used without worrying about a lead substitute?

I'm sure glad to find this website. Thanks for your help.
