Well the first thing that comes to mind is maybe the carb float is out of spec. However you say you have been mowing for 2 years OK. Have you been mowing up and down the same hills? Lift the plow and run up and down the same hills and see what happens. Maybe engine compression is OK running a mower but too low to drag a plow through the dirt. Check it. I'd also check distributor advance. My distributor was totaly shot in the advance dept. Also what gear were you in?
