I have a '54 Cub that I use mostly for mowing and snow removal. The other day I was out cutting heavy grass when the PTO disengaged with an quick grinding. I can get it to engage, but only for a short while, then it pops out again. I checked the archive of this discussion group and found only one reference that applied, and the advice was that it should be easy to fix, but that one needed to remove the PTO cover and "get parts" from a dealer...not very helpful. Can anyone out there give me a starting point for this problem? I have the service and owners manuals for this tractor, but there is barely any mention of the PTO, let alone service and repair. Thanks in advance!!
