Roger: I would have thought IHC would have a prescribed method of setting the timing rather than hit or miss. For trial and error method you might consider hooking up to a dino and adjust for max power at full rated PTO speed. I did the trial-error method with a perkins diesel running at full PTO RPM under heavy load as a referance. Got less black smoke and more power. Too far advance seemed to hear combustion rattle more at idle. R.
