I agree with Keith in that my 560 likes to spin pretty fast before it will start. I was used to a Super C and Cub before this, and it seems like you can start those by barely turning them over. The 560 diesel likes to spin fast to start.

I'm starting fine this summer without using the glow plugs (it has been in the 90's). One of the interesting things I read in my manual was to keep the glow plugs on while cranking and once it catches until it smooths out. I don't use them cranking, but in cold weather it sure helps to hold it in after it first catches.

You can check fuel somewhat by loosening the nut at the injector and then turn it over while. You should see some leaking out. I spent about an hour trying to start it one day, finally resorted to towing it with the coupler to the injector loosened, and still no fuel. I was a bit irritated as I had just replaced everything upstream. Turned out that I had the pump shut off. The kill cable doesn't work so I shut it off at the pump by hand, and 99.9% of the time leave it back in the run position, expect that once. Had a lot of these "duh" moments while learning about this tractor!
