I just got a 1948 Super A and it had an 8-volt
battery in it. It was neg. ground and I turned
bat. around and got it pos. ground as original.
This tractor's amp guage shows the same as you
mentioned. It has a low and high charge rate
on the light switch with lights off. On high
rate, mid-idle, it really charges ! There are
4 positions on the light switch. On low rate,
it is just normal. Does yours have that feature?
I think it is for charging stronger when your
bat. is low or weak? I recall reading that
somewhere. I had to put new wire from light
switch to headlights and used 10 guage wire.
8 volt bat. seems to work well with the old
bulb style lights. My old wiring was junk and
light duty anyway. You might consider 8-volt !
