ONE model of the 2N's was a steel wheeled wartime model with magneto. But that wasn't the only 2N. They didn't make any more 9N's after 1942. They became 2N's and were similar but were their own selves: 2N's. Remember this sequence: 9N, 2N, 8N.
Again, I try not to get too involved in this type of thing but even though you are right to a point, you need to understand what Paul Harvey calls "The Rest of the Story."
