Don’t know the history of the Ns well but just a couple thoughts.
1.Why would they even call it a 2N for the war and go back to 9N? Why not just call it a war model 9N and continue on?
2.Ford had produced cars/trucks for quite a while before the war and didn’t seem to have a problem designating new year models.
Somebody recently talked to one of the Funk brothers (of the infamous 8V Funk conversions) maybe there’s still a definitive source out there for the Ns.
