question for Bob M. and others

i gave up on my generator and want to go way of altenator. a few questions arise. Since i am running 12 volts. do i not need ballast resistor for ignition coil?? I will also go neg ground instead of current pos ground. whats the reason for that warning light?? i dont plan on putting one on, doenst seem hard otherwise. whn i run wire from alt. to amp meter whcih side?? have ignition wire on left side and that one on the right, just oppoiste of the way it is now. any other pointers?
