I won't be so sure. I have a Farmall B that does exactly what he describes. Blue smoke on start-up, then runs fine with good power. I thought it was my valve guides too and had the head rebuilt with new guides --- still smokes the same. I now believe the oil ring is wore and the oil builds up in the cylinders when it is shut down and restarted.
