400 Battery choice

My 400 always turns over really slow even after working the thing 3 to 4 hours. Two years ago the starter was given a clean bill of health and it charges at around 8 to 9 Volts at full throttle. I'm using an Optima battery that is supposed to have 650 or so CCA which will drop to 3.5 Volts when the starter is engaged. Not strong enough! My choice is a 6 Volt with 940 CCA or an 8 Volt with aound 800 CCA. Which should I choose? I think the 8 Volt will stay up with the 8 to 9 Volt charge but feel more inclined to go with the stronger 6 Volt. Any suggestions?
