Suggest you convert your 400 to 12 volts. I had identical problems with my Super M until I changed it over to 12 volts about 10 years ago. It now fires up reliably even after sitting idle in sub-zero temperatures for several weeks. Can use your existing 6 volt starter as is - they tolerate 12 volts just fine. Bob M
