Generators and distributors and what have you were made by other company's such as Delco Remy and others. Tractors were issued from factory with these items. IHC Farmall just had to come up with there own pulley and brackets and what have you, so that is why IHC is stamped on pulley. Why yours turned up green I can't really answer. Maybe Delco Remy or what ever brand of generator you have was robbed off a green tractor that was also equiped with same generator. Swap pulleys and it would fit right on. Or maybe it was repaired by someone like Andy said and was painted the wrong color. I would paint it red and say it was original. If you have any douts about it, look at another original M when you get the chance and see if it has the same generator. It will be covered up by the hood so not to many people are going to ask you to take off the hood so they can have a look to see if it is the right generator.
