Last November, my Super M developed a knock at the front of the trans while idling. I pulled it back to its parking space and let it sit till this weekend. Got the clutch, clutch shaft, input shaft, and belt pulley removed.
I expected to find this:
But I didn"t expect this:
All the other bearings feel good, with no noise, including the countershaft. I"ll still replace the input shaft bearings and front seal. Luckily the lower constant mesh gear has no damage whatsoever. I"ve inspected it several times.
Question: How do I get the pilot bearing off? Puller? The hydraulic reservoir makes it difficult to get the angle to tap it off.
