I had the same thing several years back when pilot bearing went out and chipped several teeth in my Super M. I decided to only replace pilot bearing and give it a try and had loud knock in transmission when I got it going so I parked it for several years. Now for the good part, had someone wanting to buy tractor for sometime so I finally told him to come get it. He came by with new battery and fresh gasoline and we had tractor running and knocking shortly. He decided that knock was not going to do more damage than was already done so he drove tractor about 7 miles home. I followed him in my truck and about half way we pulled over on gravel road and he said when we went around sharp turn at rather high speed knock went away. Sure enough everthing sounded good and he had since worked up 10 acre truck patch and planted 3 acres sweet corn with tractor and all is well still.
