When removing the leaking steering shaft seal on my 100, the old seal was different than the new one (PN 382229R91). The old one actually came out in 3 pieces (a sleeve and a fiber seal and a rubber type seal). The entire old seal measures about 5/8" thick, which is the depth of the well the seal fits in. The new seal is just 1/4" thick. I guess 2 of the new seals could be installed on top of each other (but I'd just as soon spend the $ somewhere else, maybe a new tube of JB Weld for my steering wheel). Should I just install the 1 new seal flush with the outside? Thanks Paul Taylor (this beats working anyday but especially on Labor Day)
