I have a IH 340U with loader - that is in fair shape. The unit was not operated to any degree for a number of years and I imagine service was not done with any frequency. The tractor runs well, does not burn oil, etc.. and I am attempting to service the hydraulic system - and am somewhat dangerous. :o The filter was pretty nasty - with the wire mesh screen filter covered with small bits of metal (ouch) - but the fluid seemed to be free of particulate matter - so the screen did it's job - the fiber filter was somewhat swollen and 'fell apart' upon removal. The actual fuild was 'milky white' (does that mean it is contaminated with water?) - Should drain and replace all of the fuild? - and if I do drain the fluid should I flush the system with a solvent to remove any junk or water? also - where does one find a hydraulic fluid filter - IH # 388080 R93 (168)? and how much should I expect to spend? and - what other words of wisdom might 'u' have to share regarding this beast... thanks in advance.. egb 9/6/01
