The parts book I have (TC-28E dated 11-6-50) shows the regulator mounted on the rear gas tank support for both the magneto ignition and the battery ignition. It has a wiring diagram I could scan and send to you. The parts listing is 5 pages long in addition to the diagram which makes 6 pages. If you want it, E-mail me and please tell me if you want just the diagram or the whole thing. If I send, it will be in JPG format. It's possible that you have an earlier M which likely had only a cut out relay with the high/low charging switch on the electric box. The cut out relays were mounted on the generator and someone has replace the relay with a regulator, mounting the regulator on the generator instead of where it is supposed to be.
