Also, the plug in the front of the steering gear must clamp down on the outer race of the thrust bearing to hold it solidly in the steering box and the bearing inner race must be clamped tightly on the steering worm shaft. Sometimes a washer has to be put under the castle nut to get the bearing tight on the shaft. Make sure the washer does not interfer with the movement of the bearing balls and outer race.
