As Michael has stated, I found the engagement tooth on the lever was much more worn than it looked, I cured the problem about the same as micheal did. However the plate was missing a few teeth, right where I need them. And I don't care for the saw tooth type myself. I just bought a M & W friction type from the auction on this site for $13.00 plus shipping. my tractor is apart for a rebuild so I can't tell you soon if I like the friction type. I just think that infinate adjustment is much better that the saw tooth type. I'll keep the old saw tooth type just in case I want to bring this tractor back to total original. I do use my tractor not just parades etc. So I favor things that will make it more useful.
