steering gear removal H

any ideas on removing the steering gear on a h? I've got the worm gear out and the nut off the top, but no luck on getting the gear off. I'm trying to change the seal or whatever to stop the leaking. I've jacked the tractor up and hammered the end of the shaft using a block of wood and hammer.
