yes pull the motor and do it right--then it will be good forever,look in the oil pump and check yhe spring somtimes they get old and brake also look close at the chamber the spring sets in were,s the spring real bad on one side,also do the valves and cut like .120 of the head and the tractor will come alive for you.take the crank some were to be checked real good and if needs turning do it.a plac called howard enterprises in IOWA has real good prices on a complete engine kit--the cheapest i have seen anywere.i have done 6 or 7 h motor,s and some M motor,s and they all run real nice if you do them right.most kit,s come with pistons-sleves-pins,berings gaskets,take oil pump apart and clean all the sludge out,if done right your new motor should have 65 to 75 pounds of oil presure wen done.pay close attention wen putting rear seal back in wen re-assembling.i just did a 300 motor and it run,s great,if done right it should run another 30 years with no problems
