Super A transmission help

I have almost finished the mechanical restoration of my Super A. All that is left are the seals in the transmisson. I have both final drives and the tube for the right axle off the tractor. Both axle seals are shot, as are the PTO and belt pulley. My question is how much more trouble will it be to go ahead and change the front transmission seal. I suspect it is shot, too. The I&T manual shows how to remove the spline shaft but I am a little weary of doing this. If I do will I need a new pin for the reverse gear? Is the transmission going to fly into a million pieces? Thanks for all the help so far and on this question too!
