I have seen several variations of starter switch placement and never really associated it with year of production but maybe there is something to that. My 1943 has it on the left side of post but I am going to look at my 1940 and my 1942 and see how it was originally on them. My 42 I know you have to push it with your toe but not sure if it may of had the lever. I think my 1940 may of had the lever. I thought maybe the ones without the lever may of just simply had the lever removed. I am going to take a closer look at mine just to see what is what for sure.
