Saw a Farmall B at an auction recently that had a Mag, battery, starter and no generator. If you don't have or use lights, the battery will give a lot of starts if the ignition, etc is in good condition. It was several months before I realized the generator on my MD was not charging the battery. It has a magneto for starting on gas and of course uses no battery power when running unless you turn on the lights. At some point though, the battery will have to be charged with an external charger if there is no generator on the tractor.
