Douglas - I'd be a little hesitant to apply electric gear motors to a tractor application - they don't do well with dirt, water, shock loads, etc. as is routine with tractor operations. Instead have you considered installing an electric hydraulic pump like used on pickup truck snow plows? That will provide plenty of lifting power using a standard agricultural hydraulic cylinder. The wiring is very straightforward, and used electric plow pumps are available and fairly reasonable - at least here in western NY. As you noted you'll need to add an alternator and battery - preferrably 80 amp or higher alternator if you expect the hyd lift duty cycle to be high. This will also permit the luxury of electric start and lights....nice when you gotta start up and push snow in the dark! Bob M Chili, NY
