Greetings: I have a 1940 Farmall A that I play with. Once I build a place to store my tractors I will probably get an IH utility tractor with more versatility. Until that is done, I want to extend the functionality of my A. Presently I use manual lifts for everything. Although they build muscles, I generally have a hard time lifting implements that weigh much over 250 pounds. I want to increase my lift capacity. I have seen recent references to some hydraulic applications being replaced by electrical gear motors (power steering in some new cars is one example). What is the possibility of applying similar technology to my A? I am comfortable doing electrical wiring. If I were to add an alternator and battery to my crank start A, I could get lights in addition to a way of lifting heavy implements. The real question is can I find an electric-run equivalent to a hydraulic cylinder? I have seen some linear actuators that can lift 1,500 pounds using a ¼ horsepower electric motor. Linear actuators can be much slower than hydraulics, but I suspect speed could be increased at the expense of lift capacity. In summary, the questions are 1) is the concept of using an electric alternative to hydraulics feasible, and 2) can anyone make specific suggestions as to equipment I might use to act as an electric powered push-pull mechanism? Thanks for any help. Douglas Stockman Penfield, NY

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
