Scott, Dave has it right. Your best bet for a long-term, trouble-free happy tractor engine is to have your journals ground and install oversized bearings. Bearings are relatively cheap. Since you have the pan already off, best to do them all at once. Not a good idea to give the engine a top-end redo and send all that fresh, rebuilt power straight down through the con-rods into the crank and worn bearings. Go the extra mile. The old-timers learned alot of tricks to keep these old tractors going, but when they finally got rid of them, well, let's say you could be given one of their tractors and you'd still be out money. Do yourself a favor and do it right. The money you spend now will definitely be money you save later. My two cents. Good luck, Scott.
