Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Dad always taught me to make sure the tractor was warmed up or cooled down before working and always take time to check things over, and if something needs fixed, fix it right then so you don't have to worry about it. We don't farm a lot of ground, but we keep our equipment up and it shows. In summer I do custom hay mowing and baling. I work together with a few other guys in the area, this way we are able to cover a lot of ground with 3-4 swathers running and 2-3 balers going. It amazes me the way they treat equipment. I always figure the less breakdowns I have the more money I'm making. Also, I work part time at SteelWheelRanch(sure your familiar with it, just to the north of you), you would be amazed what gets done to tractors over the years. From butchering sheetmetal to who knows what, but I guess if you own the tractor you can do whatever you want to it.
