Many thanks for your very helpful comments. The wishbone is remounted, though with two bolts instead of three. The rearmost hole was drilled and tapped for a 9/16" bolt rather than the standard 1/2" -- but the bracket was never drilled to allow the larger bolt to be installed. Given what you said about the hardness of that bracket, maybe the easier way would be to use a helicoil to re-establish a 1/2" hole. Hopefully this will hold as is for now. Again, many thanks. Bob
