on the carb: bottom needle valve should be 3 turns off "seat," top left needle valve, big brass knurled needle is the lean mixture control and should be about 2 turns off seat, and the throttle idle control, top left smaller screw with the head facing you, should be 1 1/2 turns off seat. The lean mixture is the tricky one. Get it running and warm and turn the bottom needle, the main jet control, in until the engine balks, then back it off until it runs smooth. Adjust the throttle idle screw until the engine idles to suit you, since that just limits the throttle control of the governor.
