I went to a used building materials yard and bought well seasoned 2x8's Douglas fir or pine. They came out of a school that was around 50 yrs old. You can't even get close to the quality with today's lumber. I put these on my trailer 6 yrs ago and treated them with Thompson's sealer at that time and have not treated since. They are begining to show some sings of drying out and cracking but no rot.
