I use straight 30 wt detergent oil in my old farmalls all the time. However, the winter is not very cold here. If you use them a lot in the winter, you may want to use a thinner oil. In the summer, stick with the 30 wt oil. If oil comes out of the lower petcock, then you have enough oil. Don't fill above the upper petcock.
