TerryC: Hi again. Just wanted to mention 2 be careful when using plastic gauge. One should not allow weight of crank to "hide" true clearance. I use a wood 1x2 and small jack to lift crank UP right next to cap being measured. This forces crank UP against top of bearing being measured. This forces max-total clearance to show itself on the bottom where you are using the plastic guage. Keeps away false reading. Sounds like a head removal if headbolts are not too loose. R.
