Some will argue that you should replace the old fat leather seals with two new rubber ones. Some disagree and only use one of the new rubber lipped seals. It is pretty much to each his/her own. One reason I use one is that I can usually position it so the lip is riding on a otherwise "unused" portion of whatever shaft I'm "resealing". I think a lot of it depends on what you plan on doing with the machine. Heavy field work or driving it in parades. Just my 2 cents worth.//FB
